Most of what moves through here is heavy: .44 Magnum revolvers, .45-70 levers, 10mm for bear country. So why list a 9mm striker gun? Because the people who buy a Super Blackhawk for the backcountry still want one plain, reliable pistol for the nightstand and the range, and the new CZ DUTY 4.0 fits that slot well. It is CZ's new-generation striker-fired 9x19, built on a serialized internal chassis inside a fiberglass-reinforced polymer frame, with a direct-mount optics-ready slide, fixed sights and a 4-inch barrel that is not threaded.
Four versions cover the line. The DUTY 4.0 C is the compact: 15+1 rounds, 17+1 with the extended base plate, 770 g. The DUTY 4.0 F is full-size: 17+1, 19+1 extended, 780 g. Both come with or without a manual thumb safety, marked MS. From Abilene and Kerrville down to Victoria, across Tuscaloosa, Meridian and Hot Springs, up to Dodge City and North Platte, the order is the same: big iron for the field, the DUTY 4.0 for everything else.
Compact means 15+1 rounds in a frame 5.3 in (135 mm) high. Fit the extended base plate and it holds 17+1. At 27.2 oz (770 g) unloaded it sits between a pocket pistol and a service-size gun, which is exactly where a carry-and-bedside 9mm belongs.
MS stands for manual thumb safety. This model adds a thumb safety lever to the internal safeties every DUTY has: the firing pin block, the trigger safety and the drawbar safety. Agencies and owners who want a positive on/off control choose this version; the trigger itself is unchanged.
Three things define the DUTY 4.0. First, a registered modular chassis: the registered part is inside, the grip frame around it is modular. Second, the trigger, a striker SFDA rated at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs), 0.16 in (4 mm) reset, 9 ± 1 mm (0.4 ± 0.04 in) travel, which is short and repeatable for a service pistol. Third, a direct-mount optics-ready slide, shown by CZ with Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield dots fitted, so a red dot sits low without a stack of plates.
Who is it for: daily carry, a bedside gun that also rides along, and new owners who want one pistol for everything. If you already shoot a P-10, the DUTY is the next step in the same family, with a new chassis and the optics done right.
Name any licensed dealer in your state at checkout and the pistol ships to them for the background check. Your dealer applies your state's rules at pickup, so if you are not sure what applies where you live, ask them before you order. There is no storefront on our side; the gun goes dealer to dealer and you collect it from the shop you picked.
Questions buyers ask: Is the DUTY 4.0 a sensible pairing with a big-bore revolver? Yes. It covers the jobs a .44 or .454 is poor at, home defense and cheap range practice, with 9x19 ammo and a 5.6 lb striker trigger. Which should I pick, the C or the F? The C is the compact at 135 mm tall with 15+1; the F is full-size at 143 mm with 17+1. Barrel, overall length and width are the same on both. What does MS mean on the CZ DUTY 4.0 C MS? Manual safety. It adds a thumb safety lever to the firing pin block, trigger safety and drawbar safety that every DUTY has.
