Most of what moves through here is heavy: .44 Magnum revolvers, .45-70 levers, 10mm for bear country. So why list a 9mm striker gun? Because the people who buy a Super Blackhawk for the backcountry still want one plain, reliable pistol for the nightstand and the range, and the new CZ DUTY 4.0 fits that slot well. It is CZ's new-generation striker-fired 9x19, built on a serialized internal chassis inside a fiberglass-reinforced polymer frame, with a direct-mount optics-ready slide, fixed sights and a 4-inch barrel that is not threaded.
Four versions cover the line. The DUTY 4.0 C is the compact: 15+1 rounds, 17+1 with the extended base plate, 770 g. The DUTY 4.0 F is full-size: 17+1, 19+1 extended, 780 g. Both come with or without a manual thumb safety, marked MS. From Abilene and Kerrville down to Victoria, across Tuscaloosa, Meridian and Hot Springs, up to Dodge City and North Platte, the order is the same: big iron for the field, the DUTY 4.0 for everything else.
Capacity on the carry-size is 15+1, with a 17+1 option through the extended base plate. Height is 5.3 in (135 mm) and the empty weight 27.2 oz (770 g). If you carry, this is the DUTY to look at; if you mostly shoot at the range, see the F.
This version has no external safety lever. It relies on three internal safeties, firing pin block, trigger safety and drawbar safety, and the trigger is the same as on the MS model. Shooters who prefer a lever should pick the MS.
Under the DUTY name sits a registered modular chassis, a 1.3 in (33 mm) wide fiberglass-reinforced polymer frame, a four-inch barrel and a trigger CZ rates at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs) with a 0.16 in (4 mm) reset. The slide is optics-ready by direct mount rather than an adapter plate. Fixed sights come standard, and the barrel is not threaded.
Best fit: daily carry, a bedside gun that also rides along, and new owners who want one pistol for everything. Shooters coming from a CZ 75 will recognize the grip angle; owners coming from any other striker gun will notice the trigger first.
Name any licensed dealer in your state at checkout and the pistol ships to them for the background check. Your dealer applies your state's rules at pickup, so if you are not sure what applies where you live, ask them before you order. There is no storefront on our side; the gun goes dealer to dealer and you collect it from the shop you picked.
Questions buyers ask: Is the DUTY 4.0 a sensible pairing with a big-bore revolver? Yes. It covers the jobs a .44 or .454 is poor at, home defense and cheap range practice, with 9x19 ammo and a 5.6 lb striker trigger. Which should I pick, the C or the F? The C is the compact at 135 mm tall with 15+1; the F is full-size at 143 mm with 17+1. Barrel, overall length and width are the same on both. Does the CZ DUTY 4.0 C take CZ P-10 magazines? CZ lists the DUTY with its own 15-round magazine and an extended base plate for 17+1. P-10 magazine fit is not confirmed, so plan on DUTY magazines.
